I am a Mother of two adopted children. My husband and I were foster parents in Fresno for over 7 years, and we just could not let the little ones get away from us. Our daughter came to us at the age of 15 months, and our son came to us at the age of 18 months. It was a challenge at times but well worth it. We are now the proud Grandparents of one beautiful Granddaughter who will be 2 on 2-17-08. She does not live in the same town as us but we see her at least one week-end a month. My daughter was kind enough to let me have her 3 to 4 days a week for the first year of her life. She said, Mom you never got the baby stuff so I will share that with you. Did I do a Great Job or what?

I have been married to my husband James for over 29 years. The thing about marriage that I have found is that you both have to be good listeners and very understanding at times. It is never 50/50. At our age we are trying to travel more, now that the children are not kids anymore. Our son still lives at home, for now. Sometimes it is hard for them to leave the nest. His time will come, and I can wait. Till then I have a sitter for the dogs when we go out of town.

I was a stay at home mom for about 10 years, while the children were in school. I have always done volunteer work. For the schools, boy scouts, rest homes, the local Zoo in Merced, or just for neighbors that needed help. I have always felt you need to give back to your community, to make it something everyone can be proud of.
